Porsche Design, HP and More Showcase New Windows 2-in-1s at MWC 2017

A number of hardware makers used this year’s Mobile World Congress to show off their latest Windows 10-powered two-in-one devices—ranging from Lenovo’s budgetMiix 320 to Porsche Design’s premium Book One.

Vroom vroom. …  Porsche Design’s Book One features premium touches, including a milled aluminum casing that exudes style and rivals Microsoft’s Surface Book. Inside, a 7th-generation Intel Core (code-named “Kaby Lake”) i7-7500U processor and 16GB of RAM provide the 13.3-inch two-in-one system with performance to spare.

Its fetching looks and peppy performance are only part of the Book One’s appeal. This high-end two-in-one is both convertible and detachable, enabling a wide variety of usage scenarios. Price tag: $2,495 when it pulls up this April.

HP’s Windows 10 two-in-one for the workplace, the Pro x2 512 G2, looks a lot like Microsoft’s Surface Pro. Unlike the Microsoft’s tablet, it features a removable back cover, allowing IT departments to upgrade its innards and make basic repairs. Prices start at $979.

Lenovo’s pint-sized Miix 320 is a 10.1-inch two-in-one that runs Windows 10 in either tablet or desktop mode. An LTE option provides connectivity when there are no trusted WiFi networks in range. Prices start at just $199.99 when it goes on sale in April.

The Korean electronics maker extends the Galaxy brand for its Windows 10 premium two-in-one for business users. Weighing under 2 pounds and outfitted with a 7th-generation Intel Core processor, the 12-inch premium portable can help users remain productively for up to 10 hours between charges.

Panasonic Toughbooks are legendary for their ability to emerge unscathed from environments that would grind the typical laptop to dust. Now the company is offering a two-in-one Toughbook, the CF-33, for factory floor managers, construction foremen and other workers looking for a rugged Windows 10 tablet. The CF-33 goes on sale in May and will retail for around $4,099 with a keyboard and $3,499 without.

The Plus 12 from Alcatel, a 12-inch slim and light (990 grams, or just over 2 pounds) two-in-one, offers 4G cellular connectivity. Not only does it allow for practically uninterrupted productivity on the go, but it’s also handy for extending internet access to 15 devices via WiFi.
