Samsung’s latest two-in-one enterprise portable computer, the Galaxy Book 12, will be available for preorders starting April 21. The $1,429 notebook/tablet device will begin shipping on May 23 and will come with an included S Pen and a keyboard case.

Samsung had not yet named the retailers where preorders will be taken by press time.

The new Galaxy Book 12, which Samsung unveiled at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, Spain, in late February, is an enterprise-focused machine that runs on the Microsoft Windows 10 Pro operating system.

The Galaxy Book 12, which also includes Samsung’s enterprise support and service, is equipped with a 12-inch Super AMOLED full HD touch-screen display (2,160-by-1,440 resolution), a seventh-generation Intel Core i5 dual-core 3.1GHz processor, 8GB of LPDDR3 memory, a 256GB SSD storage drive and a microSD slot that accepts flash cards up to 256GB for expanded storage.

The Book 12 also includes a 13-megapixel rear-facing auto-focus camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, two USB 3.1 Type-C ports and WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 2X2 MIMO, and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity capabilities. Video recording can be done in full HD at 30fps (1,920-by-1,080 resolution), while video playback is in 4K at 60fps (3,840-by-2,160 resolution).

In addition, the latest Samsung two-in-one features Samsung Flow capabilities, which allow Galaxy smartphone users to wirelessly tether their smartphone to their Galaxy Book for document transfers and syncs, while also allowing them to read and respond to messages and notifications. Samsung Flow also lets Galaxy smartphone owners use their Galaxy S6, Note5 and later Galaxy phones as security authentication devices for their Book machines via the fingerprint readers in the latest smartphones.

The Book 12 includes fast charging of its 39.04-watt rechargeable battery and expected battery life of up to 11 hours on a charge. The machine measures 11.47 inches in width, 7.87 inches in height and 0.29 inches in thickness (tablet only), and weighs about 1.66 pounds.

“We see tremendous growth and potential for 2-in-1s in the enterprise, particularly in vertical markets like sales, finance, healthcare and retail industries where users move frequently between collaboration and productivity mode,” Kevin Gilroy, executive vice president of enterprise mobility at Samsung Electronics America, said in a statement.

In a related announcement, Samsung also unveiled preorder and availability dates for its consumer versions of the Galaxy Book 12 and its smaller Galaxy Book 10 two-in-one versions. The 12-inch Book model with integrated LTE capabilities will be available for purchase through Verizon Wireless for $1,299 starting April 21, while preorders of the WiFi versions of the 12-inch and 10-inch Book devices will begin April 21 at Samsung.com and select retailers, including Best Buy.

The WiFi versions will sell for $1,130 for the WiFi Book 12 and $630 for the WiFi Book 10, which has a 10.6-inch TFT full HD display. Both WiFi versions will ship starting May 21. The devices, which all run Windows 10, will be available in silver nationwide or black exclusively through Best Buy.

Both the LTE and WiFi consumer versions of Book 12 include a 12-inch Super AMOLED full HD touch-screen display (2,160-by-1,440 resolution) and an Intel Core i5 dual-core 3.1GHz processor. The 12-inch LTE model features 4GB of memory and 128GB of built-in storage, while the 12-inch WiFi model comes with options for 4GB of memory and 128GB of built-in storage or 8GB of memory and 256GB of built-in storage.

The consumer Book 10 WiFi version includes an Intel Core m3 dual-core 2.6GHz processor, 4GB of memory, up to 128GB of built-in storage and a microSD slot for up to 256GB of expanded storage.

      The Book 10 is equipped with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, while the Book 12 versions include a 13-megapixel auto-focus rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

Each of the consumer Book 10 and Book 12 models comes with an S Pen and keyboard cover.
