      Research In Motion’s latest update to its BlackBerry Curve 3G runs the BlackBerry 5 OS, but the company promises that the device is “ready” for the new BlackBerry 6 OS. Presumably, that means the device will receive an update sometime in the near future. Seen here is Sprint’s Curve 3G offering.

      3Colorful BlackBerry

      The BlackBerry Curve 3G is available in either charcoal or “fuchsia red” on Verizon. It includes a 2-megapixel camera with zoom and video recording, built-in GPS, and access to BlackBerry App World.

      4BlackBerry Torch 9800

      RIM’s new BlackBerry Torch 9800 features a sliding QWERTY keyboard and BlackBerry 6 OS. Its new features include unified social-networking feeds, wireless syncing with DRM-free music and a Universal Search application.

      5Samsung Galaxy S

      The Samsung Galaxy S smartphones include a Super AMOLED screen and 1GHz processor designed to handle everything from games to HD video. On T-Mobile, it’s been branded as the Samsung Vibrant; on Verizon, the Samsung Fascinate; on AT&T, the Samsung Captivate; and on Sprint, the Samsung Epic 4G.

      All versions of the Samsung Galaxy S come loaded with Android 2.1, although an Android 2.2 update is promised before the end of the year.

      The Sony Bloggie Touch Camera is capable of capturing up to 4 hours (8GB) or 2 hours (4GB) of HD video. Capabilities include shooting 12.8-megapixel still photos and 1080p video.

      The Bloggie’s built-in USB arm and preinstalled software are designed for easy uploading of content to the Web. Users can sort through videos and images in-camera via the 3-inch capacitive touch screen.
