Samsung has decided to price the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 at $399, making it one of the best values in the market. Considering the tablet has several high-end features, including a big display and 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) connectivity, a starting price that’s $100 cheaper than the entry-level iPad is awfully nice.

The Galaxy Tab 3’s starting price is perhaps all the more surprising when one considers that Samsung didn’t go cheap on connectivity. Quite the contrary, the company offers Bluetooth 4.0—the latest version of that spec—as well as wireless-N for WiFi and 4G LTE when going mobile. What’s not to like about that?

The Galaxy Tab 3’s design is second to none in the Android tablet market. The device is just 8.6mm thick and weighs only 565 grams, making it extremely easy to carry around town. It’s quite surprising that Samsung has been able to bundle so much into such a small frame.

Although the tablet runs Android 4.2, Samsung always puts its own Android operating system flavor into its products. That’s a huge benefit for customers, considering the Samsung software works so well. Samsung’s Android skin maximizes productivity while delivering a streamlined look and feel. It’s a great option.

In addition to its own operating system skin, Samsung delivers all kinds of extras to customers who buy its Galaxy Tab 3. In fact, the device supports the company’s Samsung Apps platform, as well as Samsung’s music services, its ebooks platform, and more. Just about everything is at the company’s fingertips with the Galaxy Tab 3.

If Android owners aren’t already convinced they should pick up the Galaxy Tab 3, perhaps this one will put them over the edge: They can’t stand Apple. Samsung’s tablet is not meant to be an iPad killer. Quite the contrary, the tablet is designed for Android customers who can’t stand the thought of using an iPad. Is Apple’s tablet a better product? Sure. But for anti-Apple folks, it’s hard to find a better tablet than the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1.
