Sony’s latest flagship Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact smartphones will be available for preorders starting April 13 only through Best Buy, with the handsets available at BestBuy.com starting April 20. The phones will be available in Best Buy stores starting on May 6 and will be available from other retailers, including Amazon, starting May 20.

The Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact smartphones, which were unveiled in February at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, Spain, will be priced at $800 for the XZ2 and $650 for the XZ2 Compact model in the United States, according to a Sony spokesperson. Both phones feature X20 LTE and 4×4 MIMO wireless connectivity.

The Xperia XZ2 features a 5.7-inch HDR Full HD+ display with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 cover, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 4GB of memory, 64GB of built-in storage and a MicroSDXC slot for storage cards of up to 400GB.

The XZ2 also includes a Gorilla Glass 5 rear cover, dual SIM slots, a 19-megapixel main camera with 1080p Full HD video, a 5MP front camera with selfie 3D Capture, front surround sound speakers and a force-feedback Sony Dynamic Vibration System that lets users feel every beat, action and reaction while playing games, music and video.

The handset also includes video capture with 4K HDR resolution, a 3,180mAh battery, PlayStation4 Remote Play support and a fingerprint sensor for security. It runs on the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system.

The XZ2 meets IP68 specifications for water, dirt, dust and moisture resistance, and will be available in four colors—Liquid Silver, Liquid Black, Deep Green and Ash Pink.

      The Xperia XZ2 Compact

The smaller Xperia XZ2 Compact handset includes a 5-inch HDR Full HD+ display with a Gorilla Glass 5 cover and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 4GB of memory, 64GB of built-in storage and a MicroSDXC slot for storage cards of up to 400GB like its larger sibling. Instead of a glass back, it includes a hard-coated polycarbonate back panel with a frosted finish and an aluminum frame.

In addition, the XZ2 Compact includes dual SIM slots, a 19-megapixel main camera with 1080p Full HD video, a 5MP front camera with selfie 3D Capture and front surround sound speakers. Also featured is video capture with 4K HDR resolution, a 2,870mAh battery, PlayStation4 Remote Play support and a fingerprint sensor for security. It too runs on Android 8.0 Oreo.

The XZ2 Compact meets IP68 specifications for water, dirt, dust and moisture resistance, and will be available in four colors—White Silver, Black, Moss Green and Coral Pink.

The XZ2 Compact is the first device in Sony’s Xperia XZ series to be certified for use on Verizon’s network.
