T-Mobile adds new phones

T-Mobile customers will soon be able to get their hands on new smartphone models from HTC and Alcatel as the HTC One M8 for Windows and Alcatel OneTouch Fierce 2 and Evolve 2 models arrive for sale in the coming weeks.

In a related move, T-Mobile has cut the prices of two of its iPhone models by up to $50 ahead of the expected launch of the new Apple iPhone 6 in September.

The arrival of the HTC One M8 is expected just in time for the Labor Day weekend, according to an Aug. 28 announcement by T-Mobile.

"Today, the Un-carrier confirmed that the HTC One M8 for Windows will be available online through T-Mobile.com, all in time for the holidays," the statement said. Prospective buyers can pre-register to get an HTC One M8 for Windows phone or obtain more information about the devices.

T-Mobile now joins Verizon Wireless and AT&T in offering the phones to users, after those companies announced the upcoming model back on Aug. 20.

The HTC One M8 for Windows is the same phone that is already offered running Android, including a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor, the latest build of Windows Phone 8.1, a zero-gap aluminum body, an HTC Duo Camera, HTC BoomSound for great audio quality, and applications such as Cortana, a personal digital assistant.

The new Alcatel OneTouch Fierce 2 and Evolve 2 phones being offered by T-Mobile will be available to buyers starting Sept. 10, according to an Aug. 27 announcement by the company.

The Alcatel OneTouch Fierce 2 will be available for $126 or $5.25 a month for 24 months on an installment plan, according to T-Mobile. The Fierce 2 includes a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, a 5-inch qHD display and is 4G enabled.

The new Alcatel OneTouch Evolve 2 handset is an entry level $79 smartphone that can also be purchased for $3.30 a month on an installment plan for 24 months, according to T-Mobile.

The 3G-enabled Evolve 2 runs Android KitKat and includes a 4-inch WVGA touch screen and a 5MP camera.

The Alcatel phones will also be available later this fall to customers of T-Mobile's MetroPCS division through MetroPCS stores and online.
