Four more smartphones and a 7-inch tablet are being offered by T-Mobile as the company continues to build up its device portfolio for customers as part of a back-to-school marketing campaign.
Included in the latest offerings are the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime smartphone (pictured), which includes T-Mobile’s new Advanced Messaging enhancements; the Kyocera Hydro Wave smartphone, which is waterproof; the HTC Desire 626s smartphone; the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime phone; and the Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 7 tablet.
The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime, which is available immediately in T-Mobile stores and at T-mobile.com, sells for $189.99 or can be purchased for $0 down and $7.92 for 23 months, with a final payment of $7.83 (total $189.99). The 4G LTE Galaxy Grand Prime includes a 5-inch qHD PLS (quarter high-definition) display with 960-by-540 resolution, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of onboard storage (which is expandable to 128GB with a microSD card), an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with auto-focus and flash, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with a wide-angle selfie lens.
The Galaxy Grand Prime, which runs on the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system, is 5.7 inches long, 2.84 inches wide and 0.34 inches thick, while weighing 5.5 ounces.
It also includes a removable 2,600mAh lithium-ion battery, as well as an Ultra Power Saving Mode to extend battery life. When the battery charge reaches 10 percent of its remaining power, the phone automatically shuts off nonessential apps to maximize battery life, which can allow users to make or get calls and texts for up to 24 additional hours. The phone also supports WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.
The Kyocera Hydro Wave is a waterproof 4G LTE smartphone featuring a 5-inch display, a quad-core 1.2 GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of built-in storage (expandable with an up to 32GB microSD card), a 5MP rear-facing camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. The Hydro Wave, which includes a 2,300mAh Lithium ion nonremovable battery, runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and is 2.85 inches wide, 5.66 inches long and 0.42 inches thick. The phone weighs 5.11 ounces.
The Hydro Wave, which is also capable of WiFi calling, is available immediately from T-Mobile for $149.99 or for $0 down, 23 monthly payments of $6.25 each plus a final payment of $6.24 (total $149.99). The phone is also available through T-Mobile’s MetroPCS division for $39 with an instant rebate.
The waterproof Hydro Wave is built to repel everyday hazards, like being dropped in a puddle of water or in a bathtub or sink. It is certified to withstand water immersion for up to 30 minutes in up to 3.28 feet of water, and its touch screen can be used even when it is wet, according to Kyocera.
The HTC Desire 626s, which sells for $169.99 or $0 down and $7.09 a month for 23 months, plus a final payment of $6.92 (total $169.99), includes a 5-inch HD display, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of built-in storage (expandable to 200GB with a microSD card) as well as an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. The Desire 626s is 2.79 inches wide, 5.78 inches long, 0.32 inches thick and weighs 4.9 ounces. The handset runs Android 5.1 Lollipop and is 4G LTE and WiFi capable.
The Samsung Galaxy Core Prime includes a 4.5-inch display, a quad-core 1.2 GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel rear camera with flash, a 2MP front-facing camera and 8GB of built-in storage expandable with an up to 128GB micro SD card); it runs Android 5.1 Lollipop. The 4G LTE-capable handset is 5.16 inches long, 2.68 inches wide and 0.35 inches thick. It weighs 4.27 ounces and also includes WiFi and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity. It’s available for $139.99 or $0 down and $5.84 for 23 months, plus a final payment of $5.67 (total $139.76).
T-Mobile’s latest tablet offering, the Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 7, includes a 7-inch TFT screen, a triple-core 1.2GHz processor, up to 1GB of RAM, up to 8GB of built-in memory, a 2,840mAh battery, and a 0.3MP front and a 0.3MP rear camera; it runs on Android KitKat 4.4. The Pixi 7 will be available from T-Mobile starting July 29 for $168, or for $0 down and 24 payments of $7 (total $168).
