Easy to set up, fun to use, and priced right, the Veo Wireless Observer looks like a cuddly UFO. The camera can be controlled via the Web, and after a simple setup procedure, it doesnt require a PC. The 60-degree tilt and 120-degree pan are responsive, and sound quality is clear though choppy outside a LAN environment.
Three levels of security make sure that unauthorized folks cant change the camera settings. A $40 motion detector add-on allows for e-mail notification (and snapshots) when something comes into view. But the camera maxes out at 10 fps at 160-by-120 or 320-by-240 resolution; it achieves 4 fps at 640-by-480. There are also visible compression artifacts, and it doesnt provide a usage log.
