Verykool’s newest budget smartphone, the Jet SL5009, launched in the United States with a $139.99 price tag as the San Diego-based company continues to work to spread its smartphone line beyond Latin America.

The Jet SL5009 includes a 5-inch IPS-LCD touch-screen display (480 by 854p) that’s covered with tempered glass, a 1GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded with a microSD up to 64GB. The 4G LTE-capable smartphone also includes an 8-megapixel rear-facing main camera, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, LED front-facing flash and a 1,900mAh Li-ion battery. The handset runs on the Android 5.1 Lollipop mobile operating system.

The Jet SL5009, which is available in single or dual SIM models, also comes with a semi-transparent clear gel case, a screen protector, a stereo headset, a travel charger and a microUSB cable.

The device is 5 inches high, 2.8 inches wide, 0.33 inches thick and 3.7 ounces. The handset also includes WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.

The phone can be used with T-Mobile, AT&T, MetroPCS and other major GSM wireless networks, according to InfoSonics Corp., which builds and sells the Verykool line of devices.

“When it comes to connectivity and overall value, I am proud to say InfoSonics is leading the way in the budget smartphone market,” Joseph Ram, the president and chief executive officer of InfoSonics, said in a statement. “Our latest example, the Verykool Jet, is equipped with 5 LTE bands (Nos. 2, 4, 5, 7 and 17), on top of four 3G bands, that facilitate seamless international 3G roaming to help our customers stay connected at maximum available speeds”

Verykool and InfoSonics sell more than 25 cell phone and smartphone models through Amazon.com in the United States.
