D-Link, LG, Netgear Debut Smart Devices for the Home at CES

The networking specialist launched two home security solutions: the D.I.Y. Security Kit-HD Edition and the D.I.Y. Security Kit-HD Pan & Tilt Edition. Each kit combines three of D-Link’s smart home products: a WiFi camera, WiFi smart plug and WiFi motion sensor. The kits work with the free mydlink Home app for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, allowing users to control the devices from one screen.

Withings Home is a smart HD camera providing access to one’s home from anywhere. It has high-quality video, complete with a 135-degree wide-angle zoom and clear night vision. The device is able to measure temperature, humidity and levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) inside the home. Other features include two digital microphones and an HQ speaker, and it allows users to keep track of memorable events, sending smartphone notifications and recording cloud-stored videos.

Available in either 8Gbit or 16Gbit port configurations, its slim design and internal power supply enable users to organize wires, secure cables, eliminate bulky power adapters and improve the overall appearance of home theaters, home offices, cubicles, wiring closets, training facilities, lab benches or conference rooms. In addition, the 1-2-3-4 click mounting system and switch bracket with both vertical and horizontal orientations enable optimal placement and cable management in locations where other switches will not go.

Brio built an electrical outlet that takes the place of old and potentially dangerous outlet technology. This child-proof outlet resides in a default “off” state. Once the embedded sensor detects a valid plug, not a finger or knife, the outlet switches to 24V “sensing” mode. In sensing mode, Brio looks for the right level of resistance, which tells it it’s an appropriate appliance like a lamp.

Keep tabs on your front door, even when you’re not home. The device lets you answer the door from anywhere using your smartphone and features an HD camera with night vision. A built-in rechargeable battery lets you install the doorbell anywhere or connect it to existing doorbell wiring. In addition, motion-triggered alerts sent through the free Ring app for iOS and Android devices can notify you of arriving guests and deliveries.

The company’s Bluetooth-enabled USB charger integrates innovative device-aware software for a more energy-efficient charging process; it also integrates a surge protector. By turning off automatically when charging is complete, the device prevents overcharging and protects the battery life of USB devices. It also eliminates vampire power, the energy constantly consumed by electronics, even in standby mode.

The DHP701-AV uses multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) technology and 2,000Mbps connectivity, which allows users to transfer larger files and enjoy uninterrupted HD media streaming and online gaming. The addition of MIMO technology allows the adapters to use the fastest two wires in a typical three-wire (live, neutral and ground) installation, delivering expanded home network coverage.

The company moves into the kid’s room with the HD Pan & Tilt WiFi Baby Camera, which comes with two-way audio and five classic lullabies. Users can even add up to five MP3 songs and audio recordings to a microSD card for playback on the camera. Sound and motion detection alerts users of detected motion or loud noises, such as your baby crying. Plus, you can save photos and video right to the mobile device you’re using.

Controlled by a smartphone app, the iKettle WiFi coffee maker can be operated from anywhere in a home or office, offering variable temperature control and a “keep warm” feature. There’s even a wake-up mode, which lets users set the time to start brewing their coffee while they are still in bed.

The Styler is designed to refresh clothes without detergents, offering an ideal solution for hard-to-maintain clothes, such as suits, coats and sweaters. TrueSteam, LG’s hot steam spray technology releases hot steam to eliminate the germs and bacteria that reside inside clothes and soft toys. The Quick Refresh function keeps clothes looking, feeling and smelling fresh, while Moving Hanger Action gently shakes the clothes after they have been steamed to remove wrinkles.
