Integration Appliance Enhances SAP Data Sharing

Integration appliance provider CommerceRoute Inc. is taking another step toward simplifying integration with its release Monday of the Syncx 6150 Integration Appliance that interfaces directly with SAP AGs enterprise resource planning systems.

CommerceRoute, of Emeryville, Calif., manufactures network appliances that translate and standardize data between disparate systems, applications and databases. SAP, based in Walldorf, Germany, provides ERP and e-business software.

The Syncx 6150 appliance allows companies to access and share SAP information with internal systems — other applications, systems and databases — as well as with external partners and suppliers.

Business users, for their part, can define, map and manage multiple transformations and integration projects without writing extra code, installing adapters or affecting the operations of the SAP system, according to company officials.

SAP Labs has validated the appliance to support remote function calls and business application program interfaces for accessing systems running on major hardware platform and operating systems.

CommerceRoute also brings to the table its CR Interchange, an intuitive interface that allows technical and nontechnical users alike to access, specify and schedule data for file transformation, as well as define corresponding business rules.

This is not CommerceRoutes first foray into partnering on integration capabilities. In August the company announced an agreement with Intel Corp., of San Jose, Calif., to bring appliance-based integration solutions to the midmarket. As part of that agreement, Intel pledged to provide manufacturing and marketing support to CommerceRoute, which in turn is providing an integration appliance to Intel.

The pair released in February the Syncx Integration Appliance based on Intels architecture. That product furthers Intels goal of helping businesses deploy new Extensible Markup Language transaction capabilities that leverage existing data sources and systems, according to officials.

The SAP appliance is based on the Intel-architected platform. CommerceRoute officials are planning several additional products this quarter, particularly in the area of RosettaNet integration from a companys back-office system out to its partners and suppliers.

The Syncx 6150 Integration Appliance is available immediately from CommerceRoute and is priced at $75,000.
