Oracle has purchased MetaSolv Software, a Plano, Texas, provider of operations support systems, for $219.2 million, the company announced Oct. 23 in a statement.
MetaSolvs OSS software is tailored to the telecommunications and media industries, an area where Oracle has been looking to expand.
Earlier this year, the Redwood Shores, Calif., software company announced it had purchased Net4Call, a provider of Parlay and SLEE (Service Logic Execution Environmental) technology.
During that purchase, Oracle said it would support and develop Net4Calls product line within its new telecom road map.
For its part, MetaSolvs software provides communication service providers with OSS service fulfillment for provisioning, network inventory and activation. The companys products support VOIP, IPS (IP Multimedia Subsystem), IPTV (IP Television), IP and VPNs.
MetaSolvs products also work with traditional voice and data services.
The acquisition, which amounts to $4.10 per share, will close either later this year or early in 2007, according to Oracle.
MetaSolvs employees will join Oracles Communications Global Business Unit, the company said in its statement.
