For the little guy Dallas-based Efficient Networks Inc. is launching a symmetric, high-density digital subscriber line gateway for small and midsize businesses, branch offices, and teleworkers.
Faster data processing SHDSL is an International Telecommunications Union-approved standard, which makes it easier to provision with multivendor network equipment. It provides 2.3M bps in both directions over a single copper line, offering businesses faster processing of data, IP voice and video at symmetric DSL-like pricing.
Support, integration The 5950 SHDSL Business Gateway includes WAN and LAN interfaces, a virtual private network and a firewall for business-grade security services, an eight-port switch, a dial backup, and a performance monitor. The product will be available in Europe next month. The product is targeted for commercial rollout in the United States later this year at a price of $599.
