T-Mobile has added three Samsung texting- and messaging-focused phones to its summer stash, the Comeback, the Gravity 2 and the t349.
The Comeback might be called an unconventional clamshell style, flipping open horizontally, instead of vertically, to offer a full QWERTY keyboard.
On the outside is a numeric keypad, a four-way menu navigator, a dedicated camera, and call send and end buttons, plus a 65,000-color PMOLED display that’s 128 by 128 pixels. On the inside, the QWERTY keyboard is an ideal counterpoint to a TFT display with 262,000 colors and 240 by 400 pixels, according to a spec sheet discovered by Phonearena.com.
The Comeback supports HSPDA/UMTS/EDGE/GPRS networks, weighs 4.6 ounces and measures 4.33 by 2.20 by 0.73 inches. It includes web2go, for 3G Web speeds, supports multiple messaging and e-mail options, and has built-in Bluetooth, a 2-megapixel camera with video capture, an MP3 music player and an expansion slot for SDHC and microSD cards, for up to 16GB of additional memory.
Standby time is up to 300 hours, talk time is up to 5.5 hours, and available colors include (quick!-think of the three most random word combinations) Pearl White Plum and Frost Silver Cherry.
The Samsung Gravity 2 is a horizontal slider phone-push it to the right, and a full QWERTY keypad and emerges from its left side.
The Gravity 2, available in Berry Mauve and Metallic Pumpkin, offers multiple messaging options, a 2-megapixel camera and camcorder, and an MP3 player, and includes support for 3G Web speeds and up to 16GB of additional memory.
And finally the t349, a candy-bar style phone, includes a 20-key, partial QWERTY keyboard and offers access to e-mail, instant messaging and picture, video and text messaging. A 1.3-megapixel camera is included, along with an MP3 player and a microSD slot for up to 4GB of additional memory.
Its silver and black fa???ade is accented in lime green, which also runs like a racing stripe down the phone’s slender side.
The t349 and Comeback are now available at T-Mobile-the t349 for a very affordable $14.99 with a two-year contract and the Comeback for $129.99 with a similar contract. Subscribers will have to wait until August for the Gravity 2, pricing for which has yet to be released.
