Cisco Systems Silicon Valley campus once used telephones from Lucent Technologies. Cisco eventually ditched the gear, but CEO John Chambers had the opportunity to dump Lucent once again recently, at least symbolically.

During a Cisco technology demonstration, Chambers was asked to create a sound effect by dropping a phone into a trash bin. The phone was shown to bear the Lucent name and logo.

Chambers could barely contain his glee upon trashing the enemy. “I can do it again if you want,” he quipped.
