Royal Philips Electronics is extending its line of portable digital dictation devices with a new family that is lighter and smaller and lets users store up to 4 hours of audio.
The Digital Pocket Memo 9350 is a $299 dictation device that lets users record memos, reports and interviews with greater efficiency than analog tape devices. Thirty minutes of audio can be downloaded to a desktop dictation application in as little as 5 seconds.
Unlike previous versions, the 9350 comes with a 16MB SD card for up to 4 hours of recording. By comparison, the companys existing 9300 comes with an 8MB SmartMedia card and allows for about 2 hours of recording.
The 9350 is one of four new models, which also include the Digital Pocket Memo 9220, 9250 and 9400i, each of which offers varying degrees of functionality.
Complementing the new line is the companys Digital Transcription Kit 9750, which costs $599 and provides such features as hands-free transcription and access to information, such as the number of files and priorities, on the SD card.
