PeopleSoft Inc. continued to buck the trend towards falling revenues and profits in the third quarter.
The Pleasanton, Calif.-based developer of enterprise software saw revenues climb to $509 million – 15 percent over the third quarter of 2000. That included a 15-percent increase in license revenue to $152 million.
PeopleSoft launched its Enterprise Service Automation application during the quarter and it was also the first full quarter for PeopleSoft 8 CRM, which was released in June.
Net income checked in at $50.3 million, a decline from $68.7 million in the third quarter last year. However, last years numbers were inflated by the sale of equity securities. PeopleSoft actually lost nearly $10.2 million from operations in Q3 last year, compared to a $67.7 million operating profit for the quarter this year.
