Readers Respond: Internet Transparency Needed

Readers respond to the eWEEK editorial, "Internet Transparency Needed."

When thinking about Google and China, I end up thinking of the phrase, "Give an inch, and theyll take a mile" (Editorial, "Internet Transparency Needed," Feb. 27).

I agree with what you say in your editorial that "the Internet is a force of freedom." I think government censorship wont be able to keep up with the freedom of increasingly available Internet services.

Excellent editorial on the Google/DOJ/China search engine controversy ("Internet Transparency Needed," Feb. 27). You sided with Google, versus the Department of Justice, and you chastised Google for a contradictory stance regarding its Chinese search engine. Youre right on both counts—because the fundamental issue is liberty.
