Consultancy PricewaterhouseCoopers worked with the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) to release a report last week that surveyed 36 hospitals considered digitally advanced and chosen based on their reputation for implementing advanced clinical systems.
The study found that digital hospitals, as compared to the national average, have shorter average stays and have experienced more improved operating revenues. They also ranked higher in seven out of ten process measures in the treatment of three sample conditions: heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia.
