Enterprise application integration software developer SeeBeyond Technology and Claredi Corp. announced Wednesday an alliance that will result in a new solution for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act [HIPAA] compliance.

Claredi, of Salt Lake City, makes a HIPAA EDI transaction compliance certification system.

Under the terms of the agreement, SeeBeyond, of Redwood Shores, Calif., will resell Claredis FacilediSM HIPAA transaction certification system along with its Business Integration Suite.

SeeBeyond also offers a HIPAA Solution Set for Payers that provides HIPAA-specific preconfigured software components, a best-practice integration architecture and a SeeBeyond Implementation Guide.

The two solutions combined aim to help address the complexity of HIPAA implementations by providing unified software that provides HIPAA integration technology with distributed, in-stream HIPAA testing and certification.

At the same time, the combined software will provide a best-practice HIPAA solution that enables business process automation and a reduction in the amount of testing required to incorporate new trading partners, officials said.

Under HIPAA, health care organizations are required to adhere to national standards for the electronic exchange of health care data by October 2003.

The Faciledi system from Claredi will be available in the first quarter of 2003.
