The next test release of Windows Vista, slated for late August, according to our testing tipsters, will be designated Release Candidate (RC) 1. That usually means near-final, stable, generally usable code. But in the case of Vista, will RC1 live up to its name? That’s the question Longhorn Blogger Robert McLaws is pondering. McLaws is advocating Microsoft add (a currently unscheduled) Beta 3 to the Vista calendar – which would likely delay the release to manufacturing (RTM) date, but improve the overall quality. Anyone else out there want to see a Vista Beta 3? For his part, former Vista evangelist Robert Scoble says Vista isn’t ready for prime-time and could benefit from yet another ship delay.
