Like the shoeless cobblers children, PSINets Web site gets no attention these days. A recent visit to the site of the Internet Super Carrier (its term, not ours) made no mention of the companys latest bombshells—missing the March 31 legal deadline to file its 2000 annual report, a trading halt in its stock, and the likelihood of a bankruptcy filing.
A visit to the investor relations section did say the date for the Q4 2000 earnings release had not been determined and would be provided as soon as possible.
We were curious. On Monday, just before the company filed its latest press release and after the Q4 reporting deadline passed, we called PSINet and left several messages for comment. None was returned. Guess PSINet never heard of “damage control.”
