Brother International has announced its DCP-9000 Series of Digital Color Laser Copier/Printers. These network-ready devices are built around the single-pass laser print engine utilized in the HL-4000 Printer Series and MFC-9000 All-in-One Series launched earlier this year.

Though Brother bills them as copier-printers, as theyre built around a print engine, we see them as printers with copying and scanning features added. You could look at them as three-function all-in-ones (AIOs), with printing, copying, and scanning. But you may have to look for them in the copier aisle, since thats what Brother calls them.

Targeted to the small office and small workgroups, the DCP-9000 Series consists of the base-model DCP-9040CN and an enhanced version, the DCP-9045CDN.

The DCP-9000 Series feature print speeds of up to 21 pages per minute for both color and monochrome printing, and output at up to 2,400 by 600 dpi. They also feature built-in Ethernet network connectivity. They copy at up to 17 cpm in both color and monochrome. They provide copy reduction and enlargement from 25 percent to 400 percent in 1-percent increments. They scan in color at an optical resolution of up to 1,200 by 2,400 dpi. They provide a standard 300-sheet paper input capacity (includes a 50-sheet multi-purpose tray), and come with a one-year on-site limited warranty.
