FUJIFILM U.S.A. Inc. and Xerox Corp. announced Feb. 22 that the two companies have developed a photo print platform that includes Fujifilms digital photo system and Xeroxs Phaser 7760 color laser printer.
The new photo print offering from Fujifilm and Xerox will provide retailers with ways to create photo books, photo calendars, greeting cards and other personalized photo products.
“For the retailer, they will be able to offer a high quality, competitive product at a lower price and the technology will integrate simply in their existing infrastructure,” Bing Liem, senior vice president of sales of FUJIFILM U.S.A. Inc., told eWEEK.
The new photo print platform from the two companies comes with software, consumables, binding and finishing equipment, as well as Fujifilm Image Intelligence software, which allows retailers to develop clear images and also enables users to adjust an images background and brightness.
The new in-store photo print platform also includes the Xerox Phaser 7760, which allows for duplex printing for photo books, calendars and cards while also being able to print speeds up to 35 prints per minute for color prints and 45 prints per minute for black and white prints.
“A recent InfoTrends study projects the North American market for photo books, greeting cards, calendars, posters and various novelty items will grow at an impressive compound annual growth rate at 24.5 percent through 2010, reaching $800 million in revenues,” Liem said.
The Phaser 7760 also has a maximum resolution of 1200×1200 dpi (dots per inch) as well as a 600x600x4 dpi Photo Mode, which enables the color to be transitioned smoothly and also allows for paper sizes up to 11.5×17 inches.
“Consumers will enjoy the convenience of same-day access to photo specialty products that they had to wait days for in the past,” Liem said.
The offering from Fujifilm and Xerox is available immediately and pricing and photo specialty products will vary by product and will be set by the retailer.
