Xerox Corporation announced Feb. 12 that it has rolled out seven new products designed to help SMBs (small and midsize businesses) with their printing, multifunction and fax needs.

The suite of products includes three color printers, two color multifunction devices and two fax machines as well as document management platforms, services and software. The products are designed to help businesses such as medical clinics, law offices, independent real estate agents and other SMBs increase their productivity.

“What Xerox is pushing today is a broad portfolio of document products for the office as customers now have more Xerox offerings to choose from and more ways to buy them,” David Bates, vice president of product marketing of Xerox Office Group, told eWEEK.

The new color printers from Xerox include the Xerox Phaser 6360, the Xerox Phaser 8560 and the Xerox Phaser 6180. The 6360, available for $1,399, prints up to 42 ppm (pages per minute) in both color and black and white and also supports Xeroxs CentreWare Web desktop management software, which enables business users to remotely manage a large number of systems.

The Xerox Phaser 8560, available for $799, prints up to 30 ppm and is cartridge-free while also being available for $1,499 as a multifunction device, which includes copying, scanning and faxing capabilities. The third color printer, the Xerox Phaser 6180, prints up to 20 color pages per minute and 26 ppm in black and white.

The Xerox Phaser 6115MFP, the second multifunction device in this suite of products, prints up to 55 ppm color and 20 ppm monochrome and also includes copying, scanning and faxing functionalities and is priced at $799.

“Small and medium-sized businesses want affordable color printing and these new products deliver Xerox quality at the prices and speeds that SMB customers want,” Bates said.

The latest suite of products from Xerox also includes the Xerox Fax Centre 2121 and FaxCentre 2218, priced at $999 and $1799, respectively. FaxCentre 2121 includes faxing, printing, copying and scanning capabilities and is also able to print up to 21 ppm and has a maximum paper capacity of 751 sheets. The FaxCentre 2218 prints up to 18 ppm, has a maximum paper capacity of 1,200 sheets and has a print resolution of up to 1,200×600 dpi (dots per inch).

Xerox also announced that it has made improvements to its XOPA (Xerox Office Productivity Assessment) tool and created a streamlined version called QuickXOPA, which helps partners provide customized recommendations to decrease costs based on printing patterns.

Print Audit, a third-party partner of Xerox, has provided Xerox with two complementary assessment tools, Print Audits Rapid Assessment Key and Print Audit Assessor. The rapid assessment key allows business users to connect a USB key to a PC and collect meter reads from all networked printing devices. The audit assessor is software that follows a customers print environment, including information such as who is printing, what kinds of documents are being printed and how much is being printed.

“These assessment tools will help customers uncover document costs and make fact-based business decisions on the best ways to manage printing and related work processes,” Bates said.

The three Xerox printers and fax devices, along with the Phaser 6115MFP, are available immediately worldwide. The Phaser 8560MFP is available in the U.S., Canada and Europe immediately and in other markets worldwide by April 1 through direct sales, dealer agents and resellers.

XOPA and QuickXOPA are available to Xerox selling partners with the completion of training and certification programs.
