HP Desktops, All-in-One PCs Mix AMD, Intel Chips

HP made significant efforts to slim down its desktop line, and the result is the Compaq 6005 Pro Ultra Slim, which can be mounted behind a display, on a wall or under a desk.

The Compaq 6005 Pro runs Windows 7 and offers a variety of high-performance AMD processors, DDR3 memory and integrated ATI Radeon 4200 graphics with DirectX 10.1. It measures 2.6 by 9.9 by 10 inches and weighs 6.75 pounds.

The HP Compaq 6005 Pro features a SATA DVD-ROM drive, a SATA SuperMulti LightScribe DVD Writer drive, an SD card reader and 10 USB ports, four on the front and six at the back. Pricing begins at $599.

The HP All-in-One was designed for use by families, in kitchen or living room common areas. It features a 21.5-inch display, stereo speakers, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, and a Webcam and microphone for video chatting.

The All-in-One offers an optional wireless keyboard and mouse and comes with a MediaSmart software suite for quick access to television and movie sites, music, and photo sharing.

The All-in-One comes with a SuperMulti DVD player with LightScribe technology. The PC can also swivel from side to side or tilt up to 30 degrees for better viewing. Pricing starts at $699.

The updated HP TouchSmart 600 features a touch-enabled, 23-inch full HD display with BrightView technology, Microsoft’s 64-bit Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium OS and a 2.13GHz Intel Core processor. It has 4GB of DDR3 SDRAM memory and a 1TB hard drive.

The HP TouchSmart 300 and 600 PCs include built-for-touch applications such as Roxio CinemaNow, for renting or buying movies, and Paint It Studio, for editing photos or just getting creative. Pricing starts at $799.
