Konica Minolta Business Solutions USA is rolling out its bizhub C650, the latest installment in its next-generation bizhub multifunctional printer product line.

The MFP product family, which includes the C550, C451 and now C650, provides business users with printing, scanning and copying and faxing functionalities as well as an array of other features. The C650, announced July 9, adds new security and design features aimed at helping businesses be more productive.

The newest MFP system adds a new biometric authentication unit, which recognizes physical characteristics of each user by scanning the vein patterns of a users finger and then encrypting and storing those patterns.

“With the biometric authentication unit, business administrators can see which users are utilizing the device and accessing the network, helping them to not only have a secure printing network, but to also help businesses save money by seeing which users are using the device most often,” said Bill Brewster, spokesperson for Konica Minolta, in Ramsey, N.J.

The C650 also includes an 8.5-inch color LCD display control panel that enables users to preview data and view images before they press “print.” The new control panel also lets users print jobs that are stored in the printer without having to use a PC.

Konica Minoltas C650 also includes standard features such as print speeds of 50 pages per minute in color and up to 65 ppm in black and white and a large tray that allows for a total paper capacity of 6,650 sheets. In addition, the system also offers a 360-degree design that enables users to tilt and move the printer around to work from any angle in the office.

The bizhub C650 is available now for $31,000.
