Ricoh has introduced the new GelSprinter line of color printers, the GX2500 and GX7000. GelSprinter technology consists of quick-drying viscous ink, belt-driven paper feeding, and a long-lasting printhead design. According to Ricoh, the ink is not only waterproof and fade-resistant, it also does away with any smearing and bleed-through.
The GX2500 is an inexpensive color printer designed for small offices, and small workgroups of up to three users. It produces documents at 28 pages per minute (ppm) in both color and black and white. It is targeted at cost-conscious organizations such as schools, real-estate firms, and insurance agencies.
The GX7000 is designed for small and mid-size office environments looking to minimize their total cost of ownership. It has a print speed of 29 pages per minute (ppm), in both color and black and white. It includes a 250-sheet tray, with an optional 250-sheet paper-feed unit (PFU) and 100-sheet multi-bypass tray capable of handling a variety of paper stocks and sizes. Automatic duplexing is standard on the GX7000.
