Chip maker Rapport Technologies and IBM have developed the Kilocore1025, a new breed of cell processor technology both companies claim will bring disruptive technologies to the low-power computing market.
The Kilcore 1025, will feature 1024 eight-bit processing elements together with a PowerPCTM core on a single, low-cost chip, allowing customers to put hundreds or thousands of parallel processing elements together on small chips, Rapport said.
The collaboration between Rapport and IBM was part of Power.orgs cooperative environment and Big Blues “Innovation that Matters” initiative that shares IBM researchers with partners and customers.
Rapport contributed software solutions as well as its unique Kilocore technology, and IBM provided its engineering services, foundry and Application-Specific Integrated Circuit technologies to produce the Kilcore 1025.
