Sony Lithium Batteries Recall: 24 Dell, HP and Toshiba Laptop Models Affected

Dell, HP and Toshiba laptop PC models affected by the receall of Sony Lithium Ion batteries. U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled 24 Dell, HP and Toshiba Models are affected by the Sony Lithium Ion battery recall.

Computers with the recalled Sony Lithium Ion batteries were sold directly by Dell, Hewlett-Packard and Toshiba, through computer and electronics stores nationwide, and through various Web retailers for between $700 and $3000. The batteries were also sold separately for between $100 and $160.

Hewlett-Packard - sold from December 2004 through June 2006.

Toshiba - sold from April 2005 to October 2005.

Dell - shipped between November 2004 and November 2005.

The recalled Sony Lithium Ion batteries were included with, and sold separately for use in, the following notebook computer models:

Dell Inspiron 1150
Dell Inspiron 5100
Dell Inspiron 5150
Dell Inspiron 5160

Dell, HP and Toshiba have each set up their own Web sites where customers can fill out a form and receive a replacement battery pack by mail for free.
