From the initial first steps of application service providers, or ASPs, to the current rage for on-demand apps and SAAS (software as a service), hosted applications have changed the ways that businesses look to use and acquire products. But what about the actual act of creating applications? Does an on-demand model fit for developers?

That is the challenge faced by Bungee Labs. With the beta of its service called Bungee Connect, Bungee Labs is providing a completely browser-based environment for the creation of rich Internet applications based on technologies such as AJAX.

In this Tech Rising podcast, I spoke to Bungee Labs’ Lyle Ball and Brad Hintze about the beta of Bungee Connect, an on-demand service that aims to make it possible to not only host Web applications, but to also create a hosted environment for creating rich Web applications.
