Isanyone elseeveryone seeing this when they go to Gmail?

Indeed, a trip to the Google Apps status dashboard reveals these messages and offers an alternative way to access your e-mail through POP3 and IMAP:

Gmail Engineering Director David Besbris blogged on it here and offered his condolences, adding: “We know many of you are having trouble accessing Gmail right now — we are too, and we definitely feel your pain.”

Is this Gmail outage:

  1. A huge problem for you
  2. A slight pain
  3. No problem whatsoever

Why? Do you use Gmail to run your business?

I’ll update this post briefly when Gmail comes back online. In the meantime, read more coverage on this issue here on Techmeme.

Update: Gmail is back online for me as of 5:25 p.m. EDT. Hooray! Anyone else still denied access?

Update 2: A Google spokesperson told me at 6:40 EDT: “the issue with Gmail that affected a majority of users has been fixed. It lasted for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.”

That may not seem like a lot of time, but for those of you who use Gmail for business, whether you’re a paying Google Apps customer or not, you may feel almost 2 hours of downtime leads to 12 hours of lost productivity.
