The Federal Trade Commission on Monday held a workshop to move towards possible solutions on spyware.

“We are putting a public face on what many see as secret software,” said Commissioner Mozelle Thompson, noting that this is the first broad public forum to discuss the topic.

Panelists spoke about the negative impact of spyware on business. One speaker said that a lengthy call to an ISPs customer service from a subscriber can “wipe out the ISPs entire margin” for that subscriber.
