PatchLink has a new name, Lumension Security, and a new game—delivering comprehensive, unified protection and control over enterprise endpoints.

Lumension Security is the result of a new focus for the company, which has sought to broaden its security footprint in the past several months. As PatchLink, officials acquired endpoint security vendor SecureWave and the STAT Guardian Vulnerability Management Suite from Harris Corp. The acquisitions laid the groundwork for the company to pursue a strategy that goes beyond traditional network security, said Dennis Szerszen, senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Lumension, in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The name change was necessitated for the same reason. PatchLink is associated with its patch and remediation suite, Szerszen said. But with Harris STAT vulnerability assessment product and SecureWaves Sanctuary application and device control endpoint policy enforcement technologies now part of the corporate portfolio, it was time for a new name, he said.

When all of Lumension Securitys products are integrated, they will offer global security management, including unified vulnerability management, unified endpoint policy enforcement, policy compliance reporting and integration with network access control technology, company officials said. For now, Sanctuary and STAT will keep their product titles for the sake of name recognition, Szerszen said.
