Security Phishing Scams Jump 52 Percent in One Month

A form of Internet fraud known as “phishing” increased 52 percent from December to January, according to the Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG). There were 176 new, unique attack types reported to the group in January, up from 116 in December. Companies including eBay Inc., Citibank and America Online were targeted during this period.
