Microsofts been dropping hints for a couple months now about the new features it is building into Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 — code-named Stingray. During Chairman Bill Gates Comdex kick-off keynote on Sunday night, Microsofties put ISA Server 2004 through its paces, showing off its HTTP filtering capabilities, that will add application-layer security on top of existing firewalls. But dont expect to see the first public beta until January 2004, at the earliest, according to the ISA Server Web page. (Stingray has been in a closed, private beta since August.) The final ISA 2004 release isnt expected until late 2004.
