TippingPoint Technologies Inc. this week announced an update to its intrusion-prevention appliance. The companys ASIC-based appliance called UnityOne can be used at the perimeter of the network and inside an intranet to prevent denial-of-service and SYN flood attacks and keep process-table floods from spreading. In version 4.1, the company added the ability to allocate bandwidth so network administrators can prioritize certain application traffic while throttling certain types of other traffic to preserve bandwidth.
