FreeBSD.org last month posted Release Candidate 5.2 of its open-source Unix operating system. The group is preparing a final candidate, which is due this month.
As a release candidate, Version 5.2-RC2 is not recommended for most FreeBSD users but is available for download for experienced users and developers to test and return bug reports, officials said.
This update fixes bugs, officials said, including system “panics” during installation and dynamic library problems in the “fixit” environment. The RC2 downloads are available for i386-, PC98-, DEC Alpha- and SPARC64-based hardware.
