Red Hat, the world's largest Linux company is trying to grow into one of the world's largest software companies while at the same time keeping a grip on its Linux assets, says Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols in this edition of the Cyber Cynic podcast.

Red Hat has been busy. Not content to sit on its lead its lead in the Linux distribution space, the company went out and bought the largest open source middleware company, JBoss, on April 10. Red hat could be a winner, but Sun looks to be the loser.
