The other shoe finally dropped in The SCO Groups threatened lawsuits against Linux users. Wednesday the Lindon, Utah, company filed suit against auto parts retailer AutoZone Inc. for “alleged violations of SCOs UNIX copyrights through its use of Linux,” according to a company release.
SCOs suit, filed in the U.S. District Court in Nevada, alleges that “AutoZone violated SCOs UNIX copyrights by running versions of the Linux operating system that contain code, structure, sequence and/or organization from SCOs proprietary UNIX System V code in violation of SCOs copyrights.”
SCO is requesting an injunction against Memphis, Tenn.-based AutoZones continued use of SCOs “copyrighted materials.”
In an 11 a.m. ET earnings conference call today, SCO officials, including CEO Darl McBride, will detail the suit.
