Internet security solutions specialist BitDefender announced the launch of its latest version of Business Solutions, with features designed to make deploying and managing antivirus protection easier within the network environment while improving the ability to detect and block increasingly dangerous malware.

Developed specifically with SMB (small to midsize business) budgets and requirements in mind, BitDefender integrates anti-malware protection with remote network audit and system management using WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) technology, allowing administrators to gain an additional layer of visibility and protection to help them identify and eliminate gaps caused by rouge applications or system configurations within their network.

The company said with the addition of enhanced visibility and improved manageability, BitDefender’s Business Solutions go beyond traditional corporate anti-malware solutions to protect services such as e-mail messaging systems, desktop clients and servers from attacks, whether the threats originate from outside or within the organization.

Version 3.5 includes detection and performance enhancements such as AVC (Active Virus Control) Technology for Business Client v3.5, BitDefender Antivirus for Mac-Business Edition, Exchange 2010 Compatibility, and a new anti-spam engine with quarantine controls for SMTP Mail and Exchange servers.

To increase visibility in networked assets and minimize the impact of the rapidly spreading malware infections, the new Centralized Management dashboard consolidates threat information and provides a wizard-driven Endpoint Auditing and Reporting Module. The auditing module enables organizations to create an inventory of hardware and software assets for internal financial, governmental or industry-specific compliancy reporting.

Other new features are designed to address the lack of IT resources by streamlining business operations and help SMBs use these resources more effectively. These include simplifying policy implementation and system management with wizard-driven security policy creation, network tools to remotely manage devices, and integration into Active Directory to leverage the organizational structure already embedded in the network.

“SMBs today have limited financial resources and fewer IT resources to manage and maintain an effective security posture within their network,” said Rares Stefan, director of the business solutions unit of BitDefender. “The new features released in Version 3.5 provide a cornerstone of security for SMBs to address their unique challenges, delivering protection against increasingly sophisticated malware threats, and combines system audit and management functionality for greater network visibility that can proactively limit their exposure to Internet-based attacks.”
