Networking solutions provider D-Link broadened its selection of scalable switching solutions for small to medium-size businesses, including the DGS-6604 chassis-based switch and DGS-3620 and DGS-3120 xStack series switches. The switches offer 10-Gigabit Ethernet aggregation, and Power Over Ethernet support, as well as IPv6 support including IPv6 Tunnel, ICMPv6, IPv6 Neighbor Discovery, DHCPv6, RIPng and OSPFv3.
The DGS-6604 is based on based on a high-speed switch fabric with capacity of up to 576G bps and system performance of up to 428M bps, and features bottleneck-free distributed packet switching/routing and intelligent line cards with on-board Level 2 (L2)/Level 3 (L3)/Level 4 (L4) switching controllers, up to four redundant load-sharing power modules, hot swappable line cards, a replaceable fan module, 802.1D/w/s spanning tree, 802.3ad link aggregation and virtual router redundancy protocol (VRRP) support.
It also features 802.1p priority queues/multilayer class of service (CoS), including flow-based bandwidth control and broadcast/multicast storm control to ensure priority to network services such as VOIP, video conferencing, IPTV, and IP surveillance and security features including L2/L3/L4 Multi-Layer Access Control List (ACL), external RADIUS authentication support and SSH support.
The DGS-3620 xStack series offers an alternative to the chassis form factor with switches that deliver Layer 3 features. Up to four dual-purpose uplink/stacking 10GE SFP+ ports allow creation of the appropriate networking architecture for a variety of core applications. The four 10GE ports can be aggregated to allow a maximum 40G-bps backbone bandwidth. In addition, the DGS-3620 series supports physical and virtual stacking with other D-Link switches, providing the simplicity of Single IP management. These switches also provide IPv6 support, QoS and Multi-Layer ACL filtering, packet routing and protocol filtering/inspection.
The DGS-3120 xStack series are enhanced Layer 2 stackable switches delivering a solution with user-friendly management and a feature set for edge applications. The DGS-3120 series delivers PoE support and offers both Standard Image (SI) and Enhanced Image (EI) software platforms. The SI includes advanced QoS, traffic shaping and L2 multicasting, while the EI supports Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS), Double VLAN, Ethernet OAM and IPv6 features.
The DGS-3120 Series has models currently available starting at $949.99, with additional models supporting PoE starting in June 2011. The DGS-3620 Series switches will be available in early Q3 2011 starting at $2,699.99. The DGS-6604 chassis switch will be available in August 2011, and pricing will be announced at that time, the company said. All of D-Link’s network switches products are sold through D-Link’s network of channel partners, including value-added resellers, solution providers and distributors.
“As data-rich applications and bandwidth demands continue to grow, businesses require affordable switches in a choice of stacking or chassis-based configurations. Switches must also offer IPv6 compatibility, deliver high-performance, availability and offer seamless integration with other network components,” said Ken Loyd, director of product marketing for D-Link. “According to Gartner, D-Link is the No. 1 provider of Ethernet ports shipped to small enterprise and No. 2 provider of Ethernet ports shipped to enterprises worldwide, demonstrating our commitment to delivering networking solutions with the features and capabilities that our customers need.”
