Change management, user provisioning and access control software specialist Ensim has integrated BackupAgent into its Ensim Unify Service Provider product. Service providers who use Ensim Unify Service Provider can now roll out online backup services using BackupAgent and provision those services.

Unify Service Provider Edition is a single, centralized software application that helps simplify the day-to-day tasks of activating, configuring and managing a service provider’s unified communications and collaboration infrastructure.

Unify Service Provider was co-developed with Microsoft, enabling service providers to centrally create, control and deliver hosted IP and application services. BackupAgent is designed to provide scalable and user-friendly online backup software for service providers. The solution is also integrated with Microsoft’s Hosted Messaging & Collaboration (HMC) platform and Active Directory. The client software is available for both the consumer and small to medium-size businesses and can back up desktops, laptops and servers, including Microsoft Exchange and SQL backups.

Scott Young, vice president of marketing and product management at Ensim, said his company is delighted to release the BackupAgent Connector for Ensim Unify Service Provider Edition. “BackupAgent can be easily integrated, resulting in smooth operations in terms of provisioning for service providers,” he said. “BackupAgent allows service providers to create additional revenue streams with more differentiation.”

Roland Sars, director of sales and marketing of BackupAgent, said the Connector was developed due to popular demand by service providers using Ensim Unify. “BackupAgent’s tight integration with Active Directory allows the service provider to have a single sign-on for users that want to use BackupAgent in combination with other products,” he said.

One of the launching customers of this newly released connector is Outsourcery, formerly Genesis Communications, a U.K.-based provider of unified communications and hosted IT solutions for midmarket companies. Mark Seemann, product strategy and development director of Outsourcery, said Outsourcery can provision BackupAgent subscriptions using Ensim Unify Service Provider as a central provisioning platform. “Ensim Unify Service Provider also allows BackupAgent to be easily sold through a reseller or distribution channel,” he said.

BackupAgent has client software that supports desktop and laptop backup, as well as customer-premises server backup, including Exchange, SQL and MySQL. The solutions’ server software is multitenant. There is a private-label reseller model, and the company is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, and it is fully integrated with Microsoft’s Hosted Messaging & Collaboration (HMC) platform and Active Directory.
