HP Offers Collaboration and Consolidation Solutions

HP unveils a slew of solutions aimed at helping cost-conscious businesses improve communications and collaboration, as well as data storage and networking management offerings.

Technology giant Hewlett-Packard announced communication, collaboration and networking solutions designed to drive growth for small to medium-size businesses, including storage solutions and online services that help SMBs protect data and manage operations. By unifying messaging, collaboration and telephony technology, HP aims to help midmarket companies capitalize on mobile devices and the flexibility of interactive online work environments.
Solutions include the HP and Microsoft Unified Communication & Collaboration solution, which combines servers, storage, networking and software to streamline operations across messaging, video and voice applications; HP Virtual Rooms, a software application that enables clients to connect employees, partners and clients in one virtual online location and features monthly billing pricing options; and Small Biz Nation, which helps SMBs expand their business opportunities by offering peer-to-peer support as well as resources via a LinkedIn community sponsored by HP and Intel.
HP Converged Infrastructure offers solutions that aid in the convergence of servers, storage, networking and management. The V1410 Switch offers eight-, 16- and 24-port gigabit options, and is part of HP's recently expanded V-series portfolio, which delivers wired and wireless networking solutions for SMBs. StorageWorks X310 Data Vault offers local and remote file access for up to 10 PC clients in addition to Macs. This storage solution also offers deduplication and backup functionality.
HP StorageWorks X1000 Network Storage System provides up to twice the drives of previous generations in half the space, while HP said StorageWorks P2000 G3 SAS Modular Array (MSA) delivers increased performance and double the capacity of the previous generation. It features the latest 6Gb Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) technology.
Among internal operations and productivity solutions, HP offers the Download Store, which offers access to HP's support services without an annual contract. The HP Download Store offers clients the choice of six pay-as-you-go support and collaboration services, including HP SmartFriend Assistance and HP Performance Tune-up Service. The company's PC Helpdesk and Windows 7 Onsite Upgrade Service helps simplify operations with on-site, remote technical installation support and operating system migration.
HP Insight Remote Support software works to reduce risk by discovering potential issues during software installation or operation through a new Device Health Capability. Business Support Center Forums offer an enhanced one-stop online support experience, while Proactive Select Services reduce the risk of infrastructure downtime with expert resources available on demand at variable prices.
Through HP or its channel partners, clients can access services across information technology infrastructure library (ITIL), blades, storage and virtualization. Lastly, Sustainability Reporting: An Essential Marketing Tool allows SMBs to communicate their environmental practices, sustainability efforts and results to stakeholders and clients.
