IndependenceIT, a workspace automation software provider that helps IT departments, service providers and ISVs to deliver workspaces, applications and data from any cloud infrastructure, announced Cloud Workspace Suite 5.0.

Highlights of the latest generation software include automated cross- platform software defined data center deployments and management; orchestration and workflow automation for third-party Workspace-as-a-Service (WaaS) platforms; support for Azure Active Directory-as-a-Service across public/private/hybrid clouds, and hyper-scalable application services for the delivery of application workloads.

“Workspace automation is important because IT administration has become highly fragmented,” Seth Bostock, CEO of IndependenceIT, told eWEEK. “If you look at the landscape today many of the technology companies are building for their own stacks. If an organization were to try to employ experts for each of these stacks it would become cost prohibitive. Also in today’s world, companies are not running their IT operations entirely on one stack.”

Bostock explained that because of this fact, they need a single control plane to manage all of their IT operations.

“Cloud Workspace Suite allows an IT admin to have one view of all of their workloads and leverage the same set of functions across all of the disparate stacks, thus eliminating the need for lots of manual tasks and the need to become an expert with many different technologies,” he said.

The updated software has been given a complete user interface and user experience (UI/UX) rewrite.

In addition to the UI/UX refresh, the updated interface provides a new layout, enhanced workflows and functionality, new menu structure and iconography.

Other features include hyper-scalable application services to any number of organizations, divisions or users globally and an advanced capability for service providers and independent software vendors looking to deploy, manage and support application workloads in the most efficient model whether public, private, or hybrid cloud deployments–all managed from Cloud Workspace Suite’s global control plane.

“The goal of every business is to lower costs and drive efficiency, this is exactly what CWS is designed to do,” Bostock said. “CWS will help manage infrastructure deployment, scaling and management as well as streamline the common and repetitive tasks associated with managing apps, workspaces and data from any public/hybrid or private cloud infrastructure.”

According to IT research firm IDC, the hosted WaaS market will grow from $282 million in 2013 to $1.7 billion in 2018, representing a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 42.5 percent.

“IndependenceIT sees the market continuing to rapidly scale as more and more businesses look to move app workloads to the cloud,” Bostock said.
