Cloud services provider dinCloud, a company that specializes in cloud-based business provisioning technologies, announced that dinServer, its hosted virtual server offering, is available to IT distributor Ingram Micro’s North American channel partners via the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace.

The platform is designed to simplify the hosting of servers and applications with complete data center capabilities, including security and firewalls, and is available in monthly and annual subscriptions, with special promotions available to Ingram Micro partners. With the dinCloud platform, users are provided with an encapsulated environment with their own firewall, private virtual servers, private virtual network and private storage (powered by NetApp) that makes up their virtual private data center.

In addition to hosted servers, dinCloud offers business provisioning in the cloud, where customer applications, desktops, servers and data are co-located in a secure, virtual private data center. Each customer’s environment is supported with regular backups, and as with all of dinCloud’s services, the hosted virtual servers have multiple layers of physical and virtual security.

“dinCloud is helping channel partners transform the way companies use the cloud,” Renee Bergeron, vice president of managed services and cloud computing, Ingram Micro North America, said in a statement. “dinCloud’s server is very complementary to the hosted desktop service from dinCloud that we currently offer to our growing base of channel partners.”

Among the company’s other products is dinManage, a cloud orchestration and management platform, which is included as a value add to give customers better control of their IT infrastructure. Customers can configure, upgrade, downgrade, add or remove servers, and have command-line access.

The dinManage platform offers custom, hosted server bundles based on various memory, storage and central processing unit (CPU) combinations, and provides an administrative portal for partners to manage customer orders, generate and view monthly usage and billing reports, and offer customers a self-provisioning tool, allowing customers to go online and submit additional orders to change or augment servers, desktops and networking infrastructure.

“When we were searching for vendors to partner with, dinCloud’s user experience, quality of its infrastructure and top-notch support were the key decision drivers that made them stand out from the rest,” Scott Schulze, director of operations and president of Fusion Technology Solutions, said in a statement. “dinServer allows our customers to have a complete virtual private data center that includes security, firewall and complete control over the environment, while dinManage allows us to assist our customers in the onboarding, migration and management of their virtual co-location.”

Earlier this year, IT analytics firm Forrester Research cited dinCloud as a Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) provider with the expertise and established infrastructure required for skillful deployment in the emergent field of virtualization. The spotlight came as part of Forrester’s analysis, titled “Has VDI Peaked?” an examination of the trends affecting virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) adoption rates.
