M86 Security, a specialist in real-time Web and e-mail threat protection, announced the expansion of a partnership with Kaspersky Lab, a developer of Internet threat management solutions. The extension of this relationship allows M86 to offer Kaspersky Lab’s anti-malware scanning capabilities to users of M86 MailMarshal SMTP, M86 MailMarshal Exchange and M86 WebMarshal products. Available immediately, customers can download a 30-day free evaluation of M86 software solutions with the Kaspersky antivirus scanning module. Kaspersky has provided its anti-malware scanning capabilities for the M86 Secure Web Gateway since 2006.

Peter Merkulov, vice president of the technology alliances business division for Kaspersky, said their continued collaboration with M86 is “extremely valuable” as they extend the company’s anti-malware scanning technology already available for the M86 Secure Web Gateway appliance to the company’s entire range of security solutions.

“This effort now provides M86 users with another advanced and reliable tool for quickly eliminating viruses, worms, rootkits, spyware and other malicious software,” he said. Kaspersky’s products provide defense at work, at home and on the road for home and mobile users, SMBs (small to medium-size businesses) and large enterprises and protect more than 300 million systems around the globe.

M86 Security’s appliance, software and SAAS (software-as-a-service) solutions for Web and e-mail security protect more than 24,000 customers and more than 17 million users worldwide. M86 products use real-time code analysis and behavior-based malware detection technologies as well as threat intelligence from M86 Security Labs to protect networks against new and advanced threats, secure confidential information, and ensure regulatory compliance.

“This effort with Kaspersky Lab is part of our ongoing commitment to develop partnerships or seek ways to deliver more complete solutions to our customers,” said Werner Thalmeier, vice president of product management for M86 Security. “The addition of this module to M86’s arsenal of antivirus scanning products allows us to provide a wider range of choices to M86 customers interested in our e-mail and Web security solutions.”
