Technology professionals networking service Spiceworks debuted new IT profiles with project pages and a job board to help more than 2.7 million IT professionals in Spiceworks showcase their work, technical expertise and identify new career opportunities.

Spiceworks’ new profiles are designed to help IT professionals bring their IT experiences to life by highlighting their skills and the technologies they use to do their jobs. Profiles include community contributions, the vendors they follow, content they find valuable and traditional resume components such as past work experience and certifications.

In addition, opportunities can be filtered by job title, skills, hiring company or location, and IT professionals can also post openings available at their organization. Also, IT service providers who assisted with projects can also be included.

Profiles can include community contributions, the vendors they follow, content they find valuable and traditional resume components such as past work experience and certifications, the company said.

“IT professionals have an amazing ability to architect and use technology solutions to solve really complex business problems, so we wanted to give them a way to share those experiences with peers, partners and future employers,” Tabrez Syed, vice president of products at Spiceworks, said in a statement. “Collectively, the new profiles and job board represent major steps forward in how IT professionals share information about themselves, their work and the technologies they rely on to do their jobs.”

IT projects can now be added to any profile and can include photos, videos, geographic information, budgets and more than 40,000 individual IT products and services from Spiceworks’ catalog of solutions, and a timeline of projects can be created to help users form a visual history of their IT experience.

The new profiles with projects for IT professionals are available to attendees at the company’s SpiceWorld conference and will roll out to others in the network over the next quarter, while Spiceworks’ job board is currently available.

“The online IT resume as we know it is now dead,” Philip Moya, IT manager at San Antonio Kidney Disease Center, said in a statement. “IT is a complex job with thousands of vendors and hundreds of specialties, yet until now it wasn’t possible for us to showcase the work we do in a way that does it justice. Spiceworks has given IT professionals a vehicle to share the entire IT experience as it happens in a way that’s new, visually appealing and helps us advance our careers.”

Earlier this year, the company announced the release of Spiceworks 7, the latest version of its free IT management platform. Spiceworks 7 includes, for the first time, free mobile device management (MDM) capabilities, as well as significant updates to its inventory- and help-desk applications.

The inventory application lets IT professionals customize their scanning and inventory experiences, and new scanning workflows help IT departments inventory devices in a way that is designed to make the scanning and inventory process easier.

Through its partnership with Fiberlink and the integration of the company’s MaaS360 offering, more than 2.5 million Spiceworks users will now be able to address BYOD and device management challenges for free. Additionally, Spiceworks users will be able to upgrade to premium services from MaaS360 for additional mobile security and management capabilities.
