    T-Mobile Doubles Speed of 4G Network in 41 Markets

      Mobile operator T-Mobile announced it is doubling the speed of its 4G network in 41 additional markets including Albuquerque, N.M.; Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio; Sacramento and San Diego, Calif.; Salt Lake City, Utah and San Antonio, Texas. Now, customers in 96 markets across the country have access to T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 42 network, enabling faster 4G speeds, as well as increased network capacity and reliability. T-Mobile’s 4G network (HSPA+ 21) already reaches more than 200 million Americans in 184 markets.

      The company said it has seen average download speeds approaching 10Mbps with peak speeds of 27Mbps on the T-Mobile Rocket 3.0 laptop stick-the company’s first 42Mbps device. T-Mobile expects more than 150 million American’s to have access to these increased 4G speeds by mid-2011. Customers can choose from more than a dozen 4G devices, including 4G Smartphones like the Galaxy S 4G, the T-Mobile myTouch 4G, the T-Mobile G2 with Google, the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G, the G2x with Google, HTC Sensation 4G and the upcoming BlackBerry Bold 9900.

      T-Mobile also offers a range of 4G Tablets including the Dell Streak 7 and the T-Mobile G-Slate with Google by LG. In addition, the company also brought to market 4G Laptop Sticks like the Rocket 3.0, T-Mobile’s first HSPA+ 42-capable device, the Rocket 2.0, T-Mobile’s first HSPA+ 21-capable device, the T-Mobile Jet 2.0 and the prepaid T-Mobile Rocket 4G.
      The company also offers 4G netbook and mobile hotspot devices such as the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 4G netbook and the T-Mobile 4G Mobile Hotspot.

      The company also recently launched the More for Me program, a nationwide aggregation service that offers consumers the best in daily deals. The free service gives consumers using nearly any Android powered smartphone the ability download the beta version of the T-Mobile More for Me application from Android Market to get the best and timely offers, discounts and deals tailored to their preferences, location and interests.

      T-Mobile Android customers, and anyone with an Android-powered mobile phone using Android 1.6 or higher, can download the More for Me application from Android Market for free. In partnership with Out There Media, a provider of mobile advertising, T-Mobile will expand More for Me to reach virtually all of its customers, regardless of phone type, by offering them the option of receiving free text messages of exclusive offers, discounts and deals. The T-Mobile More for Me application is also expected to be built for other mobile operating systems later this summer.

      “Consumers are constantly looking for ways to save money and are turning to social buying apps in droves,” said Brad Duea, senior vice president of value added services marketing for T-Mobile USA. “With T-Mobile’s More for Me application for Android smartphones, we’re bringing together the leading daily deal sites into one easy-to-navigate place so consumers spend less time searching and more time saving.”
