Verizon Mobile Workforce Manager Gets Upgraded

Verizon's Mobile Workforce Manager has been enhanced with new features that separate users' business and personal lives across devices.

Verizon Enterprise Solutions announced it has added new features to its cloud-based Mobile Workforce Manager solution and signed a resale agreement with MobileIron, a specialist in enterprise mobility management.

For enterprises and organizations seeking a premise-based platform for managing mobile devices and applications, Verizon Enterprise Solutions account representatives based in the United States can now sell MobileIron’s portfolio to organizations.

Later this year, the resale agreement will be extended to Verizon clients in Europe and Asia-Pacific, a Verizon statement explained.

MobileIron helps companies to give their employees access to the business processes they need, on a wide range of device and with enhanced security features.

According to a 2013 Gartner report on mobile device management (MDM) software, MDM has seen rapid growth during the past two years as companies have adopted more consumer-designed smartphones and are looking to enforce policies across multiple OS platforms.

In 2012, Gartner saw license revenue run to $784 million worldwide, and it is expected to rise to more than $1.6 billion in 2014.

Verizon's Mobile Workforce Manager, previously known as Enterprise-Mobility-as-a-Service, has been enhanced with new features that separate users' business and personal lives across devices and improve functionality for managing mobile applications, offering an overall simplified user experience.

A simplified user portal provides a single portal for a user or administrator to make any changes to the service or to add devices.

The newly designed portal gives IT pros the ability to create customized dashboards and can be accessed on any device with a consistent look and feel.

In addition, expanded control for managing mobile applications generates greater flexibility for the IT administrator when deploying business applications by offering the ability to wrap security policies around a given application.

A secure workspace for employee-owned notebooks creates separate corporate and personal personas for data and applications that reside on a device.

The secure workspace can be managed by an organization's IT department which can lock, wipe and locate a user's corporate persona to protect company property, while maintaining user privacy.

Users can also store and access corporate documents from a secure cloud. The secure workspace feature was previously only available on smartphones and tablets.

Available to medium and large organizations in 30 countries and territories in Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Americas, Mobile Workforce Manager also offers local billing, currency and support options.
